Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). California  – two baby bats on steps

Two baby bats were found on apartment steps in Los Angeles, CA. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.    

North Carolina – injured bat in road

A person found an injured bat in a road in Charlotte, NC. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Ohio – bat found grounded

An employee found a grounded bat at work in North Ridgeville, OH. She and a co-worker safely contained the bat in a box and called us. We located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Texas – juvenile bats flying in boutique

An employee found four juvenile freetail bats flying in her boutique in Mineral Wells, TX. She called us and watched the bats land so that we could locate them quickly and contain them. They have been hydrated and examined and soon will be released back to the wild.

Idaho – bat cornered by cat

Six juvenile free-tailed bats were found trapped inside a dress shop in Mineral Wells, TX. We rescued the bats, who were all dehydrated and a few were thin.
