Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Texas – bat found in garden

An evening bat was found grounded in a homeowner’s garden in Weatherford, TX. We rescued the bat, who is thankfully uninjured and healthy. He will be released at nightfall to fly back to his colony.

A juvenile evening bat was found grounded in Hauppauge, New York. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.  

Texas- Eastern red bat found grounded – photo available

A healthy Eastern red bat was found grounded outside of a landowners chicken coop in Poolville, Texas. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer and released later that evening. 

Texas – injured bat on patio at restaurant 

A bat was found at an outdoor dining patio in San Antonio, TX. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.  

Texas – bat at bar

A juvenile bat was found outside a bar in Mineral Wells, TX. We rescued the bat, who was in great shape. He was released that same evening.
