Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Wisconsin – baby bat found on deck

A baby bat in Madison, WI, was found on their patio deck at night, the bat had likely been attacked by a cat and was orphaned. Unfortunately, the baby bat did not make it and is deceased.

Arkansas – baby bat found on front porch

A lady in North Little Rock, AR, found a baby bat on her front porch. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat did not survive.

New Jersey – bat found on busy road

A lady in Berkley, NJ, found a bat on the side of a busy road. That bat could not fly and had a broken wing. The finder did not follow instructions on the voicemail and the bat had, unfortunately passed away.

Texas – 2 deceased bats with wing wasting

Two bats where reported by local residents in Mineral Wells, TX. Both were located outside of the finders' homes, where a staff member went immediately to rescues the bats. Unfortunately, in both cases each of the bats were deceased upon arrival and had also suffered from wing wasting.

Texas – bat found on side of building

A lady in  Minnowell, TX,  found a bat hanging on the side of a building. The bat appeared to be dehydrated. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was dead upon arrival. 

Ohio – bat found on sidewalk

A man in Covington, Ohio found a bat on the sidewalk that was severely dehydrated and needed to get to rehabber. Unfortunately, the man did not follow the directions in our voicemail and left the bat on the sidewalk. The bat had died a painful death of dehydration and heat stroke. 

Georgia – bat with broken wing in yard

A bat was found with a broken in out in a yard in Milan, GA. The little bat was in rough shape, and the finder quickly used garden gloves to safely contain the bat. We located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area, but unfortunately the poor bat was too far gone and passed away […]
