The Largest Bat Sanctuary on Earth
Bat World Sanctuary is on the front line to end the mistreatment of bats. Each year we rescue hundreds of bats who might otherwise die. Lifetime sanctuary is given to non-releasable bats, including those that are orphaned, injured, and rescued from the exotic pet trade, zoos and research facilities. We are also involved in conservation efforts both locally and internationally.
Bat World was founded in 1994 and is a 501c3 non-profit, accredited organization with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.

THERE IS NO HUMANE WAY TO EXCLUDE A BAT COLONY DURING BABY SEASON.
Most bats give birth to just one pup starting in late spring and summer. if you seal out a bat colony or trim down their palm frond home during the spring or summer, baby bats will be left behind to die. if you have an unwanted bat colony in your attic, ensure there`s no way they can get into the home`s interior but wait until the end of summer before having the colony excluded. Meet Linal! 🦇
Linal is a Mexican free-tail bat, and a permanent resident at the sanctuary. With a sweet face like that, we could not resist giving him an extra mealworm after dinner tonight! We always go the extra mile to satisfy our amazing batty residents. ❤️

We think The Florida girls enjoy the rainy weather so they can enjoy extra snacks and naps all day, while our caregivers work extra hard to ensure a clean environment. What is your favorite rainy day activity? ☔️🌧️
Travis is a rescued Mexican free-tailed bat, who is also a permanent resident here at the sanctuary. He was rescued back in December during the cold-snap. He has become so accustomed to the fine dinning of mealworms we provide, that he decided to honor us with the best munching sounds tonight. Thank you Travis, we love taking care of you. ❤️

Miss Audrey just had dinner, and she has something to say about it! 😁
Audrey is a big freetail (yup, that’s really her species name!) that was rescued from the DFW area this past winter. She has been getting plenty of rest, practicing her flight skills, making lots of new friends, and of course enjoying the fine dining during her stay! We are happy to see her thriving, and I think all the staff enjoys serving her dinner as much as she enjoys eating it. ❤️
