BAT WORLD SANCTUARY

The Largest Bat Sanctuary on Earth

Bat World Sanctuary is on the front line to end the mistreatment of bats. Each year we rescue hundreds of bats who might otherwise die. Lifetime sanctuary is given to non-releasable bats, including those that are orphaned, injured, and rescued from the exotic pet trade, zoos and research facilities. We are also involved in conservation efforts both locally and internationally.

Bat World was founded in 1994 and is a 501c3 non-profit, accredited organization with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.

Everyone’s seen a #flyingfox, but have you HEARD them? They can be quite chatty (and loud). Here’s a word from Aquarius, one of our Florida Girls.

Did you know you can donate supplies directly to the bats? 🦇

Our Wishlist is an invaluable tool for donations, and it allows us to spend less time on supply runs, and more time saving bats. If you are interested in sending supplies to the bats, the Amazon wishlist is the place to be. ❤

We are currently most in need of laundry detergent pods, Rescue cleaning solution, small paper cups, apple juice, and dish soap. And be sure to check back every #WishlistWednesday to see what we currently need.

Follow the link in the bio to find these items and others that help us provide the best care to the bats!

Happy Monday from little Kneely! This personable little fella has never let losing a wing stop him. In addition to being a left- wing amputee, Kneely, a Mexican free-tail, has a bad knee on his right leg. This can make it hard for him to fully groom himself. Fortunately, Kneely has adoring staff that are all too happy to brush and groom him each day. Kneely says: "Brush scratches are the best, y'all," and he will hang from a finger to get his chest and tummy brushed. ✌️💜🦇

When you think of coffee, you might not immediately think of bats, but these fascinating animals play a vital role in producing the coffee we all enjoy. From pollination, to pest control and even in the creation of unique coffee varieties like, Bat Spit Coffee! A rare and unique coffee variety this coffee is made when bats eat coffee cherries and partially digest them. After consuming the cherries, bats regurgitate the beans, which are then cleaned and roasted to make coffee. This process is thought to impart a smoother, less acidic flavor to the beans, making it highly sought after for its distinct taste.
While bat spit coffee is a niche product, it’s a fascinating example of how bats indirectly influence the flavor and quality of coffee through their natural behaviors.
So next time you sip your coffee, remember the important role bats play in creating the flavors you love. 🦇

Remember our geriBATric resident "Max"?, Maximus is getting some well-deserved TLC with a soothing head massage. 🦇 He is loving the pampering but still keeping one eye open, just in case! A little smile says it all—he's relaxed. It’s beautiful to see this sweet soul enjoying his golden years in peace. 💕
As always, we sincerely thank you for the many ways that you support our work saving bats, and thank you especially for loving little guys like Max!
