A lady in Tacoma, WA, found a bat roosting normally outside of her apartment building. The caller was concerned as the bat appeared not to have moved in several days. However, the bat appeared uninjured and well groomed. We explained that roosting under eaves is typical behavior for juvenile bats just learning to fly so the bat is likely okay. If the bat does not fly away in the next few days the homeowner will call us back. The bat ended up flying away when she checked the next morning.
