A bat was roosting in the folds of a patio umbrella. The homeowner called us after opening the umbrella and finding the bat and then closing it up again before calling us. We explained to the caller that evening bats in particular are notorious for roosting in patio umbrellas and asked if he was willing to allow the bat to stay for the summer as she may be pregnant and in need of a roost, however, he declined. We provided contact info to several bat trained rescuers in his area so the bat can be collected and find a safe roost elsewhere.
