A Mexican free-tail was injured by a feral cat, who left the bat with multiple wing lesions. The injured bat took refuge on the breezeway wall of an apartment building in Odessa, TX. With no bat rehabilitator within a close perimeter, the finder made the nearly 5 hour drive to Bat World Sanctuary in order to ensure the bat’s safety. We rescued the bat, who has holes in his wings and was severely dehydrated. He will require several months in care before being released. In the meantime, we will provide antibiotics and supportive care until his wing membrane heals.
