A Mexican free-tail was found roosting under a homeowners eaves in San Antonio, Texas. While this may be normal roosting behavior for some species, Mexican free-tails should be with their colony, and a lone one is always cause for concern. The homeowner called us for information on what to do next. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.
