A bat in Portland, OR, was stuck to a fly trap in a homeowners front porch. She mistakenly thought the paper was no longer sticky and was shocked to see a bat trapped on the paper. She used gloves and managed to remove the bat by herself using olive oil and a cotton swab. We provided guidance on how to keep the bat safely and comfortably contained and located a Bat World Sanctuary trained rescuer in her area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she can be assessed and hopefully returned to the wild.
