After finding a red bat grounded with all her pups clinging to her, the finder called animal control, not knowing what to do. Thankfully, the animal control officer was able to contain the family of bats and gave us a call when she arrived back at her office in Olney, TX. The bats had likely been chased from a tree by a blue jay. We provided guidance as seen on this link on how to get the small family back into a tree. We also asked the caller to please let us know if any babies were abandoned so we could rescue them and hand raise them if needed.
