A caller from West Jefferson, NC reported that her neighbor took a broom to a bat who had flown into her house, knocking a baby bat off in the process. The baby was found, still alive, three days later. The caller rescued the baby and called us. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.
