A homeowner in Atlantic City, NJ found an Eastern red under a tree, desperately trying to hide under a pile of leaves. The bat was thin and had an injured wing, and being an avid animal lover, the finder called to get help for the little one immediately. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.
