An Eastern red bat was found clinging to a trampoline in Springfield, MO after a storm blew through the neighborhood. The finder followed our instructions on our website about how to safely contain the bat and then gave us a call. While further inspecting the bat, who was in much better shape than expected, flew out of the box and landed on a tree nearby and made his way to a cluster of leaves. After viewing photos of the bat, we were able to determine he was good condition and could be left in the tree to leave on his own at nightfall. We instructed the caller to monitor the area and check the tree in the morning, and provided information for rescuers should the bat be found again.
