While walking along a trail in St Cloud, MN a hiker noticed a bat lying on the ground near a tree. Not knowing what to do, the finder moved the bat closer to the tree and covered it with leaves. While walking the same trail the following day, the hiker noticed the bat was now hanging low on the tree, and realized it needed help. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.
