A man in Kenton Vale, KY, found an orphaned pup that had fallen from its roost above the chimney. The pup had been laying on the ground for a while and was very emaciated.   We provided information on how to construct a pup catcher so babies who fall in the future will be able to crawl back into the house on their own and we provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.
