A concerned caller from Gainesville, FL had witnessed a bat being attacked by a cat, and quickly shooed the cat away, saving the little bat from further injury or worse. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat will receive supportive care until her injuries heal and she can be released back to the wild.

Please know that we like cats as well. Outside of feral, cats should not be allowed to roam outside and create havoc with defenseless wildlife. Please consider a “catio” or screened porch to allow your furry feline friend to enjoy the fresh air without risking their safety or endangering the small wild animals who may be passing by.
