Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Florida – pup found grounded

A baby bat was found grounded in Orlando, FL. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.  

Kentucky – pup found abandoned 

A bat pup was found on the ground in Murray, KY. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.  

Arkansas – pup found grounded – photo available

A baby bat was found on a sidewalk in Little Rock, AR. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.

Oklahoma – bat baby caught by cat

A baby bat was caught by a cat in Tulsa, OK. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.

Texas – baby bats washed out from behind a sign

Several baby bats were washed out from behind a sign in Mineral Wells, TX after a storm passed through. Sadly all but one of the pups was alive. We rescued the baby, who will be hand-raised for the next 10 to 12 weeks. After flight training he will be released back to the wild. 

Arkansas – bat pup found in water heater closet

A baby bat was found in a water heater closet in Russellville, AR. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.  

Colorado –  bat hanging on house

A bat was seen hanging on a stucco home in Grand Junction, CO. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Texas – baby bat found grounded

A baby bat was found grounded in Dallas, TX. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.

Florida – baby bat found in backyard

A baby bat was found in a homeowner’s yard in St. Augustine, FL. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.

Florida – bat pup found in yard

A caller from Palm Coast, FL found an abandoned evening bat pup in their yard. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat pup and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The baby was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be hand-raised and released when old enough to survive.

Kentucky – red bat found in yard

A red bat was found grounded in a yard in Camargo, KY. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.
