Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Texas – red bat found grounded in barn

A woman found a red bat grounded in her barn in Willow Park, TX. She safely contained the bat following the directions on the Bat World website. We located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Wisconsin – bat found on barn floor

A bat was found grounded on a barn floor near Madison, WI. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Ohio – two bats found in bucket

A woman found a bat stuck to fly paper in Caddo, LA. Wearing gloves and working carefully, she used coconut oil to remove the bat from the paper. A juvenile free-tailed bat was found clinging to a store wall in Mineral Wells, TX. We rescued the bat, who is thin and dehydrated. He will be hand raised with other orphans in our care until he is old enough to survive on his own in the wild.
