Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Wisconsin – bat grounded at gym

A bat was found grounded inside a gym in Green Bay WI. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.  

Florida – bat in hotel

A bat was found in a hotel in St. Augustine, FL. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.     

Texas – bat at apartment complex

A bat was found partially under a doormat in Dallas, TX. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Georgia – brown bat found grounded

Ohio – bat grounded in office building

A bat was found grounded in the back of an office building in Toledo, OH. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Texas – bat at grocery store

A bat was found clinging to the ceiling of a grocery store in Mineral Wells, TX.  We rescued the bat, who was in good shape, just lost. He was released into our bat castle where he is free to fly away at will when night falls.    

California – bat on porch

A bat was found on a homeowner’s porch in Moreno Valley, CA. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Ohio – bat caught in light fixture

A bat was found in the morning trapped in a light fixture. The home owners in Maineville, OH, quickly got to action, unscrewing the fixture and freeing the bat. A little bat was found lying on the ground outside of an office building in Houston, TX. An office worker noticed the bat and followed online instructions to safely contain him. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.
