Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). New York – little brown bat rescued from dog

A caller from Rochester, NY witnessed a small animal being attacked by a stary dog. She quickly intervened and shooed away the dog, which thankfully dropped the bat in its mouth before running away. The woman immediately recognized the bat as a little brown, and could see he was injured.

New York – bat caught in sticky tape

A homeowner in Tuckahoe, NY found a bat caught in sticky tape. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

California – bat found grounded on steps of post office

A resident of Chula Vista, CA found a grounded bat on the steps of a post office. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

New York – bat found clinging to window

A homeowner in Upstate, NY found a bat on the side of a window. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Ohio – bat found outside work office

A resident of Columbus, OH found a grounded bat outside of their work office. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Florida – bat found on patio

A homeowner in Lycia, FL found a bat in the patio of their home. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Ohio – bat found in barn

a homeowner in Burbank, OH found a bat in their barn. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Midcities – bat found outside medical office

We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located several Bat World Sanctuary trained rescuers in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to Bat World MidCities where he will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Indiana – bat found in garage

A homeowner in Elwood, IN found a grounded bat in the garage of their home. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Kansas – bat trapped in home during snowstorm

A homeowner in Lawrence, KS found a bat trapped inside of their home during a snowstorm. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.
