Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Missouri – bat found on ground

A bat was found on the ground in Diggins, MI. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Florida – bat in driveway

A bat was found located in a driveway in Altamonte Springs, FL. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Georgia – bat found in bathtub

A bat was found in a bathtub in Gainesville, GA. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Mississippi – bat on storm door

A bat was found on a storm door in Biloxi, MS. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

California – bat found on campus

A bat was found on a college campus in San Marcus, CA. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Missouri- bat in grocery store

A bat was located in a grocery store in St Louis, Missouri. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

North Carolina – bat in barn

A bat was found located in-between haybales in barn, located in Marshall, NC. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Mississippi – bat found under trash can

A bat was found under a trash can in Meridian, MI. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Minnisota – 6 bats found in attic

Six bats were found inside an attic in Hackensac, MN. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Ohio – Bat found in house during snow storm

A man found a bat flying in his home during a snowstorm. He used a towel to safely contain the bat in a box. We located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be evaluated and  hopefully released in the spring.

New York – bat singing at the Metropolitan Opera House

A bat was found in upstate New York. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

A bat was found in a pile of wood in Fairview, NC. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.
