Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Also logged are the rescues we directly assisted with nationally and internationally. Click on the entry to see any photos or videos that are available. 

Texas – injured hoary bat found grounded – photo available

A hoary bat was found grounded with a broken wing in Lipan, TX. We rescued the bat and she is receiving pain medication and antibiotics. Her wing will heal over time but she will not be releasable. Instead, we will give her lifetime care with others of her kind here at the sanctuary.  

Texas – red bat with broken wing

A red bat was found grounded with a broken wing in Dallas, TX. She was rescued by Bat World Midcities where her injury was treated. She is receiving pain medication and antibiotics until she heals. She will not be releasable so she will receive lifetime care at Bat World MidCities. 

Japan – six fruit bats rescued – photo available

Texas – bat found in shop – photo available

A free-tailed bat was found with a broken wing inside a metal working shop in Eastland, TX. We rescued the bat and administered pain medication right away, then stabilized her wing. She will be unable to fly again so she will receive lifetime sanctuary with others of her kind here at the sanctuary.
