Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). North Carolina  – bat flew into tractor

A red bat flew into a tractor in Canton, NC and injured her wing. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Georgia – bat found in yard

An injured bat was found in Cartersville, GA. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild.

Texas – 5 flying foxes rescued – photo available

Five flying foxes were retired to us in Mineral Wells, TX from another sanctuary as we have the means to help them live out their old-age comfortably. Our sanctuary offers padded floors, including a "geribatric" ward, round the clock staff, and plenty of room for these elderly ladies to get all the care they need.  […]
