Rescue Log

In addition to the 700 permanent residents cared for daily at Bat World Sanctuary, the following bats were rescued and released back to the wild (or were provided permanent sanctuary with us if they were not releasable). Brazil – baby bat found grounded

A baby free-tailed bat was found on the ground in the rainforest by a researcher. We provided guidance as well as book chapters on caring for orphaned insectivorous bats, housing, nutrition and releasing pups back to the wild when ready.

Mexico – pallid bat accidentally sprayed with insecticide – photo available

A pallid bat was rescued after being accidentally sprayed with an insecticide while roosting in a tree. Thankfully, the neighbor became aware and quickly bathed the bat to remove the toxins.
