It’s a new year and, along with our daily rescue work, we are beginning a new, critical project for our elderly bats! Read about this much-needed upcoming endeavor, and how you can support it, below!
OUR OLDER BATS NEED YOUR HELP
Our “Geribatric” enclosure is no longer suitable for our precious oldsters. We need to raise the funds to build a new enclosure that will be larger and easier to clean, with the ability to be raised and lowered from the ceiling (unlike the current enclosure which is permanently attached to the ceiling). Why the ceiling? Because the Geribatric ward is located inside the flight enclosure so the older bats can still feel part of their original home with the younger flighted bats, but in a safer situation. Our contractor is already hard at work creating the new design, which will also be made of lighter weight materials that can be easily sanitized with no chance of warping.
The rescued bats in this video include those who have been retired from zoos and rescued from research. These are the bats that will be helped with this newly planned enclosure. You can help with this much needed project by donating here.
