A lady in San Antonio, TX, found a bat in the mouth of a cat. The cat dropped the bat and ran away but the bat sustained injuries to his wing and neck, causing him to remain grounded. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and located a bat-trained rescuer in the finder’s area. The bat was transferred to a rescuer where he/she will be assessed for hopeful release back to the wild. Please know that we like cats as well. Outside of feral, cats should not be allowed to roam outside and create havoc with defenseless wildlife. Please consider a “catio” or screened porch to allow your furry feline friend to enjoy the fresh air without risking their safety or endangering the small wild animals who may be passing by.
