A local resident in Malaysia reached out via Facebook messenger seeking help for a little bat pup she had found abandoned just outside her home. Living in a rural area, there was little she could do on her own for the baby, but thankfully the finder was not only vaccinated but also had experience caring for animals. No rescuers are available in the area so we provided guidance via email as well as book chapters on caring for bats in captivity. The bat is not injured but looks thin and dehydrated. He should be able to gain strength with supportive care and then be released back to the wild.
