Pennsylvania – bat stuck to glue trap

May 25

We received a a very angry call from a woman in Scranton, PA who had a bat stuck to a glue trap that she was trying to “get rid of”. The bat had been caught in the glue trap in her kitchen, and she removed the trap and tossed it onto her front porch, with the bat still attached. The poor bat lay in the hot sun for over a day before the woman decided to call for help. After a very disturbing argument with the woman, we got in contact with rescuers in PA to alert them to the situation. However, they had already received calls from this woman, and she was as equally difficult with them as she was with us. It wasn’t until late in the evening that rescuers could finally convince the woman to let them come to her home and attempt to rescue the bat, but it was too late for the helpless bat. The poor thing had been eaten by the woman’s cat. Everyone involved in this rescue was heart broken.
