A big brown bat sustained several injuries after being caught by a homeowner’s outdoor cat in Emmett, Idaho. She was quite traumatized by the experience but she is on the road to recovery and being treated for her injuries. We rescued the bat, who is thankfully not pregnant or lactating so there is not an infant bat in jeopardy. She will receive supportive care until her injuries heal and she can be released back to the wild.

Please know that we like cats as well. Outside of ferals, cats should not be allowed to roam outside and create havoc with defenseless wildlife. Please consider a “catio” or screened porch to allow your furry feline friend to enjoy the fresh air without risking their safety or endangering the small wild animals who may be passing by.
