A hoary bat was caught by a cat in Possum Kingdom, TX. Thankfully, the bat was completely uninjured. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat, which could be a lactating female, by releasing her at nightfall after the sun has gone down. We directed the finder to take the box outside well after dark, place it up on something high, then turning the box on its side so the bat can fly off. We also asked the caller to let us know if for some reason the bat does not fly away.
