An evening bat was spotted surrounded by two dogs and four cats who were batting at him. Thankfully the finder chased the dogs and cats away and scooped the bat into a box. He was rescued by Bat World MidCities and on examination was found to be dehydrated, starving, frightened, and suffering from a broken wing finger. He has a long road ahead of him, with a wing injury that may prevent him from flying in addition to being dehydrated and critically thin. He received injections of warmed electrolytes as needed, as well as pain medication and antibiotics, and is being hand-fed small meals several times per day while his digestive tract starts functioning again. He will be flight tested in about six weeks to determine whether he can be released.
