A severe cold front caused temperatures to drop into the teens in Texas, where an evening bat was discovered on the ground after she fell from a bat house in Fort Worth. Another bat, a free-tail, was found after she fell from a parking garage door at the Embassy Suites hotel Fort Worth. She bruised her wings in the fall but will make a full recovery. Both bats will receive supportive care until spring, when the weather is warm enough for them to be released.
