Texas – over 1,200 free-tailed bats rescued after falling from roosts – photo available

December 25, 2022

The arctic freeze that swept through Texas caught many bats off guard and they became cold stunned and fell to the ground underneath the bridges and various other roosts. Over 1,200 were rescued by TWRC in Houston, who then contacted us for help. We advised sorting through the bats and those who are healthy could be placed back into semi-hibernation until Wed when the temps are warm enough for release. Of the 1,200 rescued, 67 were transported to Bat World MidCities for further care.
