Kentucky – eastern red found on apartment patio – photo available

April 3

A resident of an apartment complex in Lexington, KY was shocked to find a little Eastern red bat curled up in a ball on the patio. She was unsure if the bat was hurt or not, so she quickly gave us a call. After sending multiple photos and videos of the bat to a staff member, we were able to determine that the bat was thankfully uninjured and likely just blown from a tree during the storm the previous night. We provided guidance on how to safely contain the bat and as well as instructions on how to release the bat at nightfall after the sun has gone down, by taking the box outside, placing it up on something high, then turning it on its side so the bat can fly off.
