World Bat Week

UNDER CONSTRUCTION – LINKS & GRAPHICS COMING SOON

Bat World Bat Week  – October 24th through October 31st
was created to celebrate all things bats, and to shine a light on the importance of the coolest animal on the planet. Sadly, although vast education has been accomplished, there are still millions of people who believe that bats are dirty, worthless creatures that do no good for humankind. You can help change that during bat week! Spread the word about bats in your own community by using the ideas below to tell your local community that bats are clean, gentle animals, and they are critical to our own survival on earth!

1. EDUCATE OTHERS!
Write a Letter to the Editor of your local newspaper. A template can be found HERE.

2. EDUCATE OTHERS!
Get permission to set up a booth in a public place (or simply use your hard during Halloween) and create an educational display using ideas found on our Teachers Page. Send us a photo of your booth/table. The most creative educational display will win a Bat World t-shirt of their choice!

3.  KITE FLIGHT!
Challenge your classmates, scout troops, and club groups to make and fly bat kites during bat week. Send us a photo or video of your “Bat Kite Rally” along with the number of people who participated. The kite group leader who garners the most participants will get to pick an Adopt-a-Bat of their choice!

4. BAKE OFF!
Hold a bake-off using recipes found in the Bats in the Pantry cookbook. Get your friends to judge the best dish and video the judging, then upload to YouTube or Facebook and send us the link. The winner will receive a copy of our Bats in the Pantry cookbook!

5. BATTOOS!
Share photos your bat tattoos with us and be entered in a contest that will be posted on Facebook! The winner will receive a $25 gift card that can be used in Bat World Sanctuary’s store!
