While Bat World Sanctuary and its grounds are not open to the public for tours, we are involved in community events throughout the year to promote bat conservation and environmental education. Please note that live bats are not available for festivals or other loud events. School programs are also not available. When bats take part of any particular event, it will only be for a few minutes at a time and will only involve insectivorous bats that are acclimated to programs.
It is the policy of Bat World Sanctuary to make food choices at events that reflect our organizational values and mission. Because animal agriculture is the single largest threat to wildlife, event holders that book Bat World Sanctuary should only serve “bat friendly” dishes such as:
- Vegetable tray (carrots, celery, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, etc)
- Fruit plate (watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, pineapple, grapes)
- Pita chips, tortilla chips
- Spring rolls
- Pretzels, popcorn, and nuts
- Coffee, water
All event fees go to support the animals in our care. Program presenters and event booth staff are all dedicated volunteers who generously give their time to help educate people about bats.
