BAT WORLD SANCTUARY

The Largest Bat Sanctuary on Earth

Bat World Sanctuary is on the front line to end the mistreatment of bats. Each year we rescue hundreds of bats who might otherwise die. Lifetime sanctuary is given to non-releasable bats, including those that are orphaned, injured, and rescued from the exotic pet trade, zoos and research facilities. We are also involved in conservation efforts both locally and internationally.

Bat World was founded in 1994 and is a 501c3 non-profit, accredited organization with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.

Welcome home, Honey!

Honey the hoary bat had a really, really rough couple of days before being found by a good samaritan. After suffering a bad wing break, she wound up alone and grounded in a field, where she was likely stuck for several days before being found. When someone did come upon her, they immediately called us for help, and we called upon our database of transport volunteers in order to get her a ride to the Sanctuary. Volunteer transporter Kim came to the rescue, picking Honey up and delivering her safe and sound to us.

Upon arrival, it was clear Honey was in bad shape. Having been grounded for days, she was emaciated, dehydrated, and in immense pain due to her broken wing. Pain medication was quickly administered, as well as warmed fluid injections and a drink of hydrolyzed protein to help stabilize her. Within a few hours, it was like looking at an entirely new bat. Honey had gone from defeated and scared, to hopeful and curious, peering around her enclosure and chattering at caregivers.

Today, Honey is doing wonderfully. While her release status remains in question, her wing is healing and she has quickly taken to the complimentary mealworm room service provided. Only time will tell if Honey will be able to fly free again, but no matter what, she has a forever home here with us.

Bat World Sanctuary is a 501c3 non-profit organization, and we rely on donations from people like you to help bats like Honey. We are completely funded by the public, and donations made through Facebook go towards things like live mealworms, life-saving medications, and enclosure maintenance. Thank you for anything you can give!

Today is the perfect day to give to bats! That’s right! Today is North Texas Giving Day, and there is still time to donate!

This year we are raising money to complete the Bat World Learning Center, which will be massively beneficial for bats all across the globe! Along with giving us space to host our bat rehabilitation workshops, it will allow us to once again provide educational programs for both adults and school children. We will also be able to offer training to animal control officers, and bat removal companies, to ensure the methods they use are both safe and humane.

You can help by sharing this post, or if you would like to donate you can follow the link down below to donate directly through our NTGD page here: https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/organization/Bat-World-Sanctuary

Want to donate through Facebook or PayPal instead? Hit the donate button on this post and we will be sure that your support goes to our Learning Center project! ❤️
